Coronaviris COVID-19 response update 16 March

This information is related to the Australian Government’s advice on how we all should take steps to protect ourselves from the COVID-19 outbreak with the primary objective of

  • Minimizing the number of people becoming infected
  • Managing risk to the community

As far as we know, this virus is caused by a novel virus for which there in no vaccine. One of the most at-risk groups in the community are our residents.

St George Aged Care Centre priority as always is the health and safety of our residents, staff, allied health professionals, families, friends and visitors.

Management have implemented our risk management plan to mitigate risk and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of quality care in our home. We have also tightened up hand hygiene and cleaning protocols and secured additional inventory of PPE products. We have ceased non-essential activities and are closely monitoring developments.

One unfortunate aspect relates to cutting back on visitors to the home. This is an unavoidable but we believe justifiable response in our attempt to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting the virus through person to person contact.

As of today, only one direct family member is permitted to visit their relative at any one time during the visiting hours (10.00am-12.00pm/3.00pm-5.00pm). We understand that some families may find this difficult as they drive another relative to our home but we ask that you respect our policy.
